I saw this one morning in early April at sunrise. I wanted to capture this feeling and freeze it. I love working from by own photo’s, and often times turn them into paintings as I feel the photo just doesn’t do it justice. Although beautiful, I wanted to it to display the feelings I had of peace and calmness in the world. This is of the Hudson River looking at the GWB in early spring sunrise, a serene place to be.
I’ve used a blanket of deep periwinkle to convey the still morning air, with patches of lighter fog and cloudiness in purple lavender blues. In the sky peachy pink and rose highlights with hints of yellow emphasize the early morning sun low on the horizon, out of sight behind the busy city buildings. The water under the George Washington Bridge slowly illuminates in the morning light.
