One of the first paintings I made in my new home of Sleepy Hollow. This lighthouse was another enchanting place with history exuding from its chipping paint. I could feel the stories of old sailors and men who once lived there as I made my way up the circular staircase. Eerie and inspiring.
I’ve used deep teal and blues for the water, with lavender and peach clouds that reflect the setting sun, in a contrasting blue and purple horizon sky. The lighthouse is painted in white, with gold and green flecks of age beneath indigo trim. The deep green and blue waters shimmer with yellow highlights from the sun. The dark mountains and shadowed rocks also in indigo.
