La Marina Cafe

In late summer, in late afternoon, the long shadows cast through delicate paths of sunlight that warm my face as I close my eyes and listen to the river from my table. I feeling I desperately wanted to recreate.

I’ve used deep greens, blues, teals and mellow yellows for the water and reflecting light, with a horizon sky contrasting over dark mountains at sunset. The long cool shadows accentuate warmth, while the empty cafe tables suggest invitation. The clouds have varying deep pink and purple accents, the water and leaves have an array of blues and teals. The deck, tables and chairs feature warm purple and rose undertones with splashes of yellow light. I’ve signed the painting in the lower left corner.
