Lighthouse at Sunset

Light house near the Outer Banks of North Carolina at sunset.

Going to undergrad in NC (ECU) I have a special appreciation for this state, especially the beach. It’s a very enchanting place, filled with mystique, something I wanted to portray that in this painting.

I chose a bright red sunset with dark purple clouds approaching, as if the blanket of night was rolling out. The striped lighthouse almost luminescent in the dusk, and the deep seas in contrasting teal and blue greens. I used metallic pearl white (almost lavender) as bits of light that shimmer across the ocean to the shore.
